With only a few days to go before Verizon begins retail for iPhone 4, Sprint tries to spoil the party with its unveiling of an exclusive new Android smartphone from Kyocera, which is highlighted by having two touchscreen displays.
The Kyocera Echo features two 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen displays that are connected by a patent-pending “pivot hinge,” which allows the screens to operate independently, side-by-side, or combine. When both screens combined, the device creates a 4.7-inch display in what is called “tablet mode.”
Other features include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor; 1GB of internal memory, with memory card slot that can extend storage up to 32GB; a 5-megapixel camera with flash, auto-focus, and digital zoom; 720p HD camcorder; media player with 3.5mm stereo headset jack; stereo Blutooth, 3G, and WiFi hotspot capability; and voice and text prompts in English and Spanish.
The Kyocera Echo for Sprint will be launched this spring for US$199.99 with a two-year contract and $100 mail-in rebate.
